I have this big tranny adapter cradle that drops in place of the jackhead. It makes it much more stable. I've done it twice on mine. If you want to borrow it, let me know.
wow. thanks for the offer fastguy, but i picked up chaep. is there any other special tools ill need  im aslo putin a new clutch in while i replace the gears. the bearin tool comes with the clutch.
The only "special" tools were the tranny adapter, a ratcheting car tie-down, and a pilot bearing puller. Do NOT hammer a dowel in the crank to pop the old one out, use a puller. The crank has an oil plug there and you will pop it inand therby totally screw yourself. I rented a puller at Autozone. It wouldn't adjust down small enough so I took the jaws off the end and actually threaded it into the bearing itself. If you do an archive search here for my posts, there are a few regarding driveway tranny swaps.
