Re: Help: Friction modifier in M6 Trans (bogielake)
$30-$40 bucks worth of fluid id NOT worth a $2500. Transmission! Just drain it out and put in some new fluid. You should be alright with a drain and fill!
Re: Help: Friction modifier in M6 Trans (bogielake)
My tech actually has put that in my tranny before on purpose to try and help make the shifting smoother. I found no adverse effect to having it in the tranny and it did shift a little better even with GM fluid.
Thanks for the reply another buddy (former GM Powertrain Engineer) of mine that I emailed agrees with you,
"Brad, its not a problem at all..The modifier is actually closer in viscosity to the trans fluid and the "lubricity" changes of it would be next to nothing in the trans fluid".
4 oz in 4.1 quarts I don't think I'll worry about it.
The tranny was just put back together by Rodney, I'll probably put 500-1000 miles on it (once spring gets here in MI) and change it.
