Yesterday I noticed that there was a screen on the inlet side of my MAF. To me it kind of defeates the use of my smooth coupler. Can I cut the screen out, without messing up the performance of the MAF?????
 :banghead:
Many opinions on this one, but I think the best answer is DO NOT DO IT! You may create problems with very little reward. It makes intuitive sense, but not "electronic" sense...... :)
OK, My two cents.
You guys that go looking for more power by installing intakes, exhaust, etc. WHY??
The most I've ever seen is maybe 25 more hp (on a dyno). We have cars with 350 hp (or more-Z06), 20-25 more just dosen't make sense. 100 more?? That I could see, but you can't get 100 with bolt-ons. Sure, you spend $300 on an intake, pull the screen, smooth coupler, etc, you're suer as hell gonna think that car is faster, but is it???? Dyno will tell. Many magazines have done dyno tests where mods TAKE AWAY hp. This months Corvette Fever did some dyno runs, seems cars don't match up to what the factory says, sometimes.
I have a Dodge Dakota 5.9 R/T (and a C5), I can usually beat any car, including Corvettes, from a stop light because they're not expecting a race, not because my truck is fast (it is fast up to about 40 mph).
I don't race the Corvette, to easy to get into trouble.
So, go spend you money, think your car is faster, whatever, OR just take a Corvette for what it is, a DAMN fast car right from the dealer.
Clearly Arthur6 is not going to become a member of "mod-a-holics" anytime soon! Different strokes for different folks I always say, just so long as we all enjoy the ride. :auto:
MAN!!!!!!! I raced one of them CORVETTS in my GEO today and beat him by 3 car lengths!!!!!!!!!!!! You should have see it. I walked him off the line and he was never able to catch up!!!!!!!! :skep:
Wow man I'm COOL!   :skep: :skep:

We mod them, so that we can beat Dodge Ram 5.9's! :D You say that a Corvette is fast enough from the factory, but you can beat it with a Ram p/u? Doesn't sound very fast to me!! :D Just kidding with you.....
Happy Holidays!!
OK, here I go again...
If you go to a Drag Strip two different times on two different days, you'll get two different times on your runs. I've made at least 500 runs down different drag strips, with Motorcycles, Cars and Trucks (I'm sure many guys here have done same).
Example - went to Sacramento Dragway, in summer, all the stock C5s were running about 14.30-13.90. Next weekend, the stock C5s (different C5s) were running 13.90-13.30, including mine. I made NO mods, just different conditions on different days. So, I picked up one half second with NO mods, as did all the cars there, different outside temps, humidity, ect. Not to mention how the same driver in the same car can run 1/2 to one full secone faster (or slower) with back to back runs.
I do know, if I spend money on my car, motorcycle, whatever, I sure as hell think it's faster, but sometimes it's not, that's reality.
Good Luck, guys
