Default new sway bars.... clank, clunk

ok, help me out here. i just put on my new z06 sway bars and i can here them clanking and clunking, not so much when i shift the wheel side to side, but more like when the cars front end lifts and lowers. i know the end links are tight because i tightened the shiznit out of them. i cant really tell if the back is also making noise though. its a 99 vert, lowered slightly (factory adjustments only). any ideas?

I had the same problem - I though I had tightned everything up really tight - but further tightening fixed the issue. Don't remember what all - bushings, links. Same sort of clunking noise you are talking about.

Also be sure that the bar is actually centered left to right. There is nothing to keep them from moving 1 or 2 inches each way, and one side can hit the lower control arm if they are not centered.

Test it out by going over speed bumps in parking lots one wheel at a time to test which side the problem is on.

The aluminum heim-joints will make some noise. It's part of the price you pay for the bars.

The threads on the links are the self-lock types. You need a torx bit on the link and a wrench on the nut to tighten to spec; any noise is an indicatin of loose links. :yesnod:
