I found mine on E-Bay for 1/3 of what the dealer would have charged!!! I got three remotes NEW still in the packages! The ones for the newer C5's are a LOT less than the older C5's My 98 FOB has part #10253839 and my 02 FOB has part# 25695954.
The 98 FOB will NOT work on the 02 and the 02 FOB will NOT work on the 98.
As I remember, somewhere around 2000/2001 the FOBs changed. So,,, make sure that you get the CORRECT one. The ones for other GM models look the same but have different operating frequencies! I highly recommend calling the GM Dealer parts counter and asking which model FOB (i.e. part#) you need for your car.
Only purchase off E-Bay by the part #.
You can program up to three to your car and it is VERY easy to do! DO NOT pay the dealer to do it! It's a waste of $$$$$.
If you need help WE (forum members can provide you the procedure or you can look it up in your owners manual. It will be under FOB TRAINING. There is a FOB sync procedure but this only used AFTER you TRAIN your FOB's
