Default LS1 Edit

Is this when a tuner reflashes the computer to change A/F ratios and other parameters and is that why it costs so much because it also needs to be done on a dyno?

LS1 edit is a do-it-youself software package for tuning. You can do it yourself, or pay a pro to do it on a dyno. If you are asking these questions, you should probably pay a tuner.

Most tuners charg $400-$600 to help pay for their equipment and software investments.

It's incredibly detailed compared to some of the other hand-helds on the market, and a professional tuner is the way to go. Many more intricate changes can be made to your programming with LS1Edit, and it takes a trained hand to do the best job. Doing the changes on a dyno really helps out - I think we ran my car 8 or 9 times before getting the final numbers in. It might help if you got several others in your area to join you. Unless the tuner has the big $$$ LS1 Edit program, they will have to buy it, and adding extra cars (up to 4 on one program) might lessen the cost for each of you. We did this a couple months ago, and four of us paid $250 each for the program, and hired a local tuner for $200 apiece to come do the cars. Worked out great!
