Default Headlight Actuator Help

I finished the T84 Euro Lights install. However, the driver side actuator motor continues to run after the headlamp doors close (for about 10 seconds - one awful sound too). They go up just fine. I have the manual adjuster set all the way to the lowest position, just like the drivers side where I am not experiencing this problem.

How does the actuator motor know when to stop? The service manual is no help at all.

Thanks for any ideas

Sounds like the plastic gear is stripped on the drivers side. You can fix it by getting an entire new motor/gearbox assembly from a dealer (major $), buying a new metal gear on the net (about $50), or by taking it apart and flipping the stripped gear 180* so you use the good side (FREE :D ).

This link is for F-bodies, but it's all the same on C5's: http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/#FreeGuide
Another link w/metal gears: http://my.execpc.com/C4/4A/rodney1/vettegears/

Cha-ching! Only half the gear is used, eh? I will flip that gear over. Where do I send your check :D
