Default help on custom cold air

Does anyone remember a post on creating a custom cold air system by flipping the stock airbox, minus the lid, over and cutting a hole in the shroud? I searched but can't find the post. There we're pics with it. I just want to review it before I attempt.

Thanks.

Nope. In this mod, the lid is not used. It's like the zip tie mod, only flipped over with a hole in the shroud.

Took me a while to find it also.. but here it is. Also, since posting this I have had to drive in hard rain on occasion and no problem with any water at all. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zero...784#1545812784

Oh, one other thing. I have added a smooth coupler to throttle body and I have some people say I am not getting all the air as in a blackwing etc. due to the smaller opening where the MAF attaches to the filter.

Think about this. When you take a water hose with water on how does the water flow out of the end? SLOW.
Then you take the end and hold your thumb over half of the end ?? forced pressure due to same amount of volume wanting out but the increase with the end partially closed. You get spray.

Same theory in a leaf blower. Leave the end open so it is same diameter it blows but not nearly as good as it does when you add the nozzle.

Just my theory but I know one thing. This setup works !

Very cool. Stupid search never came up with that one. You mentioned you had to cut some of the air box edging to make it sit flat. Can you describe how much and where? I assume it is around the edge closest to the MAF. When I mocked mine up it was quite a ways from flat on the shroud. Also, what did you use to replace your bellows connecting the bridge to the TB? I tried the fernco thing and it didn't work real well.
