I have a supercharged 2002 C5 vert with 25K miles on it that's experiencing some clutch pedal issues lately. Mainly, after some hard WOT runs my pedal will need to go all the way to the floor to engage the clutch. It seems after the car cools down normal clutch operation resumes.
The other day I did a high RPM shift and my clutch pedal got STUCK to the floor. It wasn't until getting all the way home that I pulled on the pedal and it popped back out. The clutch feels perfectly fine again.
Is this the slave cylinder issue that people have talked about here before? I thought for a while it was the clutch itself but now it appears it might not be? I asked my dealership what the labor overlap would be for a flywheel/clutch swap if they replaced the slave cylinder under warranty and it was only about $180, so I am going to go ahead and do that all at once (otherwise if I do the slave and clutch seperately, I am looking at over $500 in labor).
Because my car is modified (and I've been very up front with them about that), I don't think they'll go tooling around town in it trying to replicate the clutch pedal issue, but I *DO* want to make sure that this is indeed the problem before they go into the car and possibly find nothing wrong with the slave. Also, Chris @ SpeedDemon said that he thought the cylinder issues were fixed by 2002... if this is the case, will I be OK after they replace the slave or will it just break again?
It's time for a "real clutch" in that car. Do not waste your time, money or brain cells at the dealership. I use the Ram clutch in my car. A lot of guys use the Spec clutches. I had the same symptoms with my car before replacing the clutch system.
Mine does the same. Need a good clutch to fix the problem. Mine began after the H/C job. Just too much power for the stock setup. Recomend replacing all parts though. Master, Slave, Pilot bearing. You will be happy with upgrade. Just my 2cents.
P.S. just helped a friend do his 99 C5 and takes about 2 days to do it right. Also helps to have a couple people do it.

Yeah, I'm going to have them do the Spec Stage III with aluminum flywheel at the same time -- that's the labor overlap I was talking about. Since they are in there working on the slave cylinder under warranty, the clutch and flywheel is only $180 in labor out of my pocket. I just wanted to make sure I was getting everything replaced in there that needs replacing.
