Hi, I have seen posts that say to take the replacement speedometer to a dealer for them to reset the miles to the original cars unit. I did the upgrade over the weekend to a HUD enabled speedo and projector and when I took the vehicle to the dealer he said that they cannot do that...I would have to take the cluster out and send it to the repair center for that to be done.
Can someone give me the STRAIGHT scoop on how to get the new unit miles corrected to the original cars. Will anyone that has done this upgrade to a Hud on a 97...or later car tell me how do you go about getting the odeometer set to the vehicles miles.
Is this another DEALER not knowing what to do????
Thanks for the assistance in advance.
Keep waving, Tom
Re: HELP on getting HUD/Cluster odeometer reset (C4TOMCAT)
how much trouble is it to install HUD? what was the cost? how do you turn them on, do you use the factory switch? never see one, would like to upgrade my 98..........thanks :hurray:
Re: HELP on getting HUD/Cluster odeometer reset (C4TOMCAT)
I would like to know as well. I've asked both dealers here and they also say they can't do it, and can't tell me who can. I've been waiting on this mod until I found out how. I've been watching for a HUD ready cluster to come up for sale with 25,000 miles on it, then I wouldn't have to do anything

It does have to be sent out to have the mileage changed. I just swapped out the cluster in my 03 Silverado and had to have this done. The dealer sent the cluster to the repair center. It cost me around $45 to have the mileage set.
Re: HELP on getting HUD/Cluster odeometer reset (VortechC5)
Gosh, not the answer I was wanting as I really do not want to take this cluster out again. Not sure why but I was always under the impression that it was done with a tech tool by the dealers. maybe one of the forum technicians will chime in later. thanks for the reply....may just put a copy of the original mile picture in with the title and save them in case it ever comes up at a future sale/carfax etc.
Re: HELP on getting HUD/Cluster odeometer reset (clem zahrobsky)
the 97 to 99's (maybe 00 as well)did not have a Hud enabled Cluster so you need to get both for those year changeouts. either 00 or 01 came with HUD enabled clusters and all you would then need is the projector. till later, tom

Same here: my dealer in Germany told me to bring it to the next place that can do it, that´s in Switzerland!!!! Talked to them by phone, they are used to do it, takes half an hour, so I can wait for it. But it´s clear for me that noone else over here can do it.
