I had the Transgo shift kit installed with a supercharger and PT2900 torque converter. Actually, I also had the tranny built for additional power at the same time.
1. Should I be able to manually hold the shifts in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th? Has anyone installed a Transgo on an '02 or newer? I could only manually control shifts on 1st and 2nd.
2. When I first had the work done, I would downshift and the gear would engage (slowing down by downshifting). Now, if I downshift the gear doesn't engage. . .or I should say, you don't feel the shift and the shift change doesn't slow me down. (Example - driving at 40mph and manually downshift to 2nd gear, it almost feels like there was NO shift, but if I smash the throttle, I can watch the RPM's just shoot up to where they should be in 2nd gear).
Since I had so much work done at the same time, I am not certain where the problem is. . .tranny, converter or shift kit.
3. The 2-3 and 3-4 shift simply isn't hard enough!
I'll assume that the TMS(torque management sytem) has been disabled  If not..do it!! Also most installations find that 2 spacers in the accumulator valve assy. is what works best for the SOTP reponse your looking for.. :yesnod:
FWIW..I have a 2001 and I can upshift and downshift ANY gear and hold ANY gear as long as I wish...
last time i looked tranny line pressure was part of the tranny operation, that why you have had four tranny's in the last two or three years , do your homework before you open your pie hole. :yesnod: :nono:
I am wondering if I haven't broken something in the tranny. Today, I got a better example. if I am driving at 30mph and I downshift to second gear (manually), I do not feel or hear the shift. The RPM's drop all the way down to around 1000. Then when I press the throttle, the RPM's are very loose. . .until 3000 (which is where the RPM's should stay when I downshift).
Does this make any sense?
As for the shift firmness, I shouldn't have included it. I know adding another washer will resolve this problem.
Did the tranny shop replace the stock plastic 1-2 , 3-4 pistons with aluminum ones? This erratic behavior could be fluid leaking through a cracked piston. With your power enhancement replacement is mandatory. :yesnod:
the point i was trying to make was before you go out and spend 400.00 for a shift kit installed, check with a local tuner and have him bump up you line pressure a LITTLE BIT and you might be happy with the improved shift firmness, i am. some guys go out and get that hard shifting kit and in a few months of all that hard sometimes useless hard shifting at low rmps kills the tranny..ask bayouvette, my car breaks the tires in 2nd and does not shift hard under light rpms shift like the kit does. :yesnod: everyone knows you don't bump the line pressure if you allready have the kit. :mad sounds like the tranny is going south on him. transgo :nonod: most tranny shops don't support them check flp and they will tell you the same.... :yesnod:
I already have the shift kit. It appears it either was not installed correctly or the computer is overriding something?
I love the 1-2 shift with the kit, it's incredible. Having the CPU programmed to shift more firmly would not work for me. . .I like controlling the shift.
Now, I have to figure out why it doesn't let me control the 2-3 shift?
Also, back to my other problem. . .I will have to find out about the pistons. I thought we got strengthened pistons with the kit?
Aluminum pistons do not come with the kit. Having done several kit installs, its very easy to reverse the order of either springs or valves, unfortunately the valve body will need to be removed and the 2-3 circuits investigated. Good luck.
Let me know if you need the P/N for the alum pistons.
