I've been looking at shifters.
1. Is there a difference?
2. What is the advantage over stock?
3. B&M sport or Short throw.
4.What's a Ripper?Billet/plus?
Mine is a daily driver/street only.but I'm not real excited with the feel of the stock shifter or the occasional difficulty finding reverse :banghead:
I've been looking at shifters.
1. Is there a difference? The Hurst is adjustable as far as shift firmness is concerned
2. What is the advantage over stock? Firmer more positive shifts, great feel, shorter throws
3. B&M sport or Short throw. I have no idea. I went Hurst!

[b]The Ripper is the B&M short throw shifter and the Billet Plus is the Hurst short throw shifter. Either one is the one you're looking for. Also look into the Mallet & BPP if you got cash to spend.
HURST is the most popular here,I have 1 & love it,its the best because of price& adjustability, stock shifter is sloppy compared to it,I got mine at summitracing.com
HURST here.....Daily Driver.........love the "crispness".......some rattle though at high RPM.......but realisticaly........how often are we at "high RPM"....1 or 2 times /day.
Can't tell you about Ripper. I assume it's a quality product though.
The Hurst is a breeze to install.
I just put in a B&M unit today, I dont have a lot of stick time (pun intended)yet but the throw is considerably shorter. I didnt get the Hurst because of the multitude of adjustments available to it. Its tough enough to decide what to buy let alone what adjustment to use. It is a pretty straight forward install the hardest thing being the removal of the metal t thingy in the shift ****. I hear the B&M unit used to be adjustable but the current model like mine has discontinued that feature. So its a bolt in & go deal. I got a good deal on mine from LAPD. He had a special for $149.95. I dont know if it is still in effect tho. :steering:
Couldn't have saisd it better. Been a Hurt man since the sixties. Highly recommend

I am not wanting to start a war but a forum sposor told me the Hurst was the crappiest shifter he had sold for Vettes. Several of his cutomers had returned them.
Told me to go with the BPP if I wanted all the adjustability options.
