Ok im looking to get a Window Valet. Is the install as easy as it looks on the website. Cuz to me it looks way tooo easy! Also do you other guys out there with verts like all the feature son it? Thanks
The actual installation is as simple as plugging it into the compter port under the steering column. It will take a few minutes though to go through the progranning and set the features to your preferences. It's not difficult at all to set up, just a lot of button pushing.
You should also remove it from the column before taking your car in for service or emissions testing, as they will need to use that port.
I've been looking at one as well. Am curious, I have a 2001 convertible and the windows drop automatically when you raise the deck lid to store the top. As I understand it, the Valet will allow me raise and lower my windows with the FOB and set some delays for other functions as well. Do you find the Valet to be worth the $100 now that you've had it a while?
Is anything we buy for these cars really worth the money?
I'd buy it again, yeah. I hear it's a real Godsend for the vert owners, but as a coupe owner, I like to drop the windows before popping the top off, so that's why I got it.
Since owning it, I find I like the 15 min radio on delay after removing the key even more beneficial. It's nice to be detailing and cleaning the car with the radio on and doors open with no annoying chime since the key's not in the ignition.
Here's another benefit: Some **** orifice in a Buick parked about 12 inches from my driver's side door tonight. No nicks but I couldn't get in the damn car! :mad
Three quick pushes of the unlock button on the fob lowered the windows and I was able to squirm my way in!! for WV!
I have one of the original units which was much more involved to install. I've had it now for about 3 years, and wouldn't want to be without it.
As far as I'm concerned, it should be standard equipment in all convertables.
I'm sure you will enjoy it.
