any member out there have had a problem with a coil going bad or gone bad? i had one replaced about a month ago, and today cranked the car up and having the same problem when the coil went bad. :mad is there a high performance coil that i can buy?
i took the car to frank parra and they put the car on their computer and it detected the bad coil, they replaced it and it solved the problem, until this morning :mad
I had the same problem. One of the coils went bad and then another a month later. I don't think there is an aftermarket coil but GM did revise the coils, probably for this reason. The new coil that you had installed should be a different part # and the epoxy coating is probably black instead of white. I am speaking from experience of a 97 model. I don't know what year you have and I'm not exactly sure when GM changed these coils. My G/F has a 2001 LS1 and it has the new coils on it, so somewhere in between. One other thing; check your fuses before you make another trip back to the shop. People have mistaken misfire codes with the coil packs when it was only a fuse to start with. I hope this helps.
hey bone stock you are exactly right about the difference in the coil the one i had on there at first was white, and the new one they put on was black, my car also is a 97 with a lot of mods,i will be at the shop early monday morning will let you know the results
got red back from the shop today the tech said that it was a injector struck wide open causing the car to flood out, thanks for all those whose responded
