Default Adding Fog Lights?? What is involved?

I bought my coupe with only a couple of options. One of the options that I would like to have is the fog lights. Has anyone added these to a car that did not come from the from the factory with them? What all is involved, is it even worth the money and or time? What will I need to buy?

Go with the PIAA 1100 lights. I installed them on my Z06 and use them instead of my headlights. They are extremely bright!
Several members have installed them and there are a lot of posts on this subject in the archived topics.

Tuan at TL Electronics has a great price on these right now. http://www.tlelectronics.com/webstore/default.php[/URL]

Thanks

Ah,,,, Not all of the C5's! The ZO6 cars DO NOT have the harnesses! :nonod: The dealer said that I would have to replace the wiring harness!!!! That reads $$$$$$$$$$$$$. My option would be to go to the under hood fuse box and wire from there!

I purchased stock C5 driving lights, the switch and brackets (finding brackets is a bitch!!!) and will make my own harness!

BOY ARE YOU MIS-INFORMED Tell your dealer he's a MORON :yesnod: I have wired a half dozen ZO6's in the last few weeks. Car is wired from the fuse box (under the hood) into the dash, just swap out the trunk switch. Get the PIAA 1100 lights they come with the proper wire from the light to the fuse box. STAY AWAY FROM THAT DEALER!!!!!!

So, I need the switch (obviously), Are the factory fog light shrouds the only thing that the factory lights mount to or is there another type of bracket? As far a wiring the lights, is the already a connector in the dash for the new switch or will I have to wire one? Af far as the wires to go to the lights themselves, do I need to buy a wiring harness or is there already wires run for them? I am a little confused with all of the Z06 talk. I have a coupe that did not come with the fog lights from the factory. Is mine wired the same as all of the Z06's with out the lights?

This will give you an idea for the brackets. The new dash switch just plugs into where your current trunk switch is now. NO WIRING NEEDED!!! Factory was nice enough to pre wire for you. The wiring from the new Piaa lights is included in the box. you are only wiring from the lights to the fuse box nothing more. From start to finish this will take about 1 hour. Your car is wired just like any other Corvette out there.

Dave

I have a 98 Coupe with factroy driving lights! The lights plug into two factory pig tails which come out of a factory under the hood wiring harness.
My 02 ZO6 DOES NOT have the "under the hood pig tail wirng harness" for the driving lights!!!
You are correct in saying that everything is there up to the under the hood fuse box but it stops there! It does NOT have a harness or pigtails to plug the STOCK factory lights into!
If you own a Z and want to install the FACTORY DRIVING lights, you will need to make a wiring harness from the under hood fuse center to the lights!

The dealer quoted me a price for a under hood harness with the factory pig tails included for the driving lights!

If you have directions for wiring the driving lights from the engine compartment fuse box to the factory lights PLEASE share it with us!

If you can come up with the Blazer International address and phone # to contact them to order the light brackets sepertely maybe you can also tell GM what is wrong with the column lock system!  :skep:

Bill

Dave

The post was not directed at you and I am sorry that I got caught up in the middel of this! I typed your name in haste by mistake. I am very sorry.
I think the confusion revolves around installing the "Factory Lights" and "After Market" lights. If you install factory lights on a ZO6, you will have to make your own wiring harness. I guess the after market kits provide the wiring harness for you to connect to the under the hood fuse box. If a C5 is built without the driving light option, I can not tell you if the wires are still inplace ready to plug into the factory lights if you get then at a later date.
