Default RPM tables for gears...

I'm looking at putting 4.10 gears in both my C5s. I have a RPM table for the gears for the MN-6 but my wifes car is an A4. Does anyone have a table for the A4? She has the 3.15 now and I want to see what kind of RPM it'll be running on the highway with the various gears. Thanks in advance.

It seems that 3rd gear with 4.11 differential & 2nd gear with 2.73 differential get almost the same RPM. Then, why do people need to change the differential to higher one? Can they just drive on 3rd gear with 2.73 differential instead of overdrive with 4.11? or 2nd gear with 2.73 differential instead of 3rd gear on 4.11? What is the benefit of changing a differential to higher one? Can someone explain Please?

gears mean more torque multiplication which equals more thrust.

see my speadsheet above.

The a 4.10 gear I think means that the drive shaft will turn 4.1 times to every turn of the wheels. A 2.73 gear means the drive shaft turns 2,73 times to every turn of the wheel. Essentially the higher the gear number and the more power that is applied to the wheels. Thus the 4.10 will let you start much quicker than a lower number gear. The trade off is that to get a certain amount of speed you need more engine RPMs with the 4.10 gears so you lose gas mileage and have a lower top speed in each gear. For a simple comparison drive an A4 with a 2.73 and then a 3.15. You will notice much quicker response off the line with the 3.15.
