Is the shift indicator a function of the redline setting? At what RPM prior to the redline is it activated? So if I increase my RPM redline will the shift indicator move with the redline setting proportionately. :chevy
Re: Question about HUD shift indicator (goodhands)
I noticed if I see mine........I've already hit the limiter!
I don't ever watch it instead of the tach..........but that's just me. I grew up looking at the dash
Re: Question about HUD shift indicator (goodhands)
It comes on a 6000 rpm, the factory rev limiter is 6200. It takes a quick hand not to hit it.
I moved my pcm rev limiter to 6800, but the HUD's indicator still comes on a 6000. Whats interesting is the last bars on the HUD's tach will flash because I've exceeded the rev limit.
I installed an aftermarket shift light so I can consistantly shift at 6500.

Same here. Shift light is much easier to see. I can keep my eyes on the road ahead and still see the shift light no matter how bright the sun is.
I had a hard time with the shift light in the HUD the minute it came on I was hitting the rev limiter, way too fast for me. Installed an aftermarket shift light and haven't hit the rev limiter since..
Re: Question about HUD shift indicator (goodhands)
Thanks for the posts guys. I was debating on whether or not to get the shift light because I am tired of bouncing off the rev limiter. I have bumped the limit to 6500 with fuel cut off at 6600. I thought that maybe the shift indicator on the HUD moved with it. I have never been able to tell because I use the tack gauge when tearing through the gears. Anyway I guess the shift light is next on the list.
