I just switched my 99 to the LS6 PCV system, replaced a defective oil pressure sensor, and ported and polished my throttle body. Now the car won't start. There are clicking noises, and kind of like creaking noises. The clicking sounds like a relay, I don't know if the creaking is maybe a smaller relay clicking at a higher speed.
I looked at the battery voltage, and it was like 10V. I charged it up again with a trickle charger, and when it got to around 12.3, I took the charger off. The voltage dropped to around 12.15 in about 1 minute (with the key out and nothing on, not even the hood light). It was still dropping, but I figured I might as well try starting it again anyway. Same thing happened when I tried to start it, lots of clicking and creaking, but the engine didn't crank at all. Checked the battery voltage again, and it was at 6.5V! :(
I thought maybe I kissed up the throttle body and there's a short inside it, but the car acts the same way when I try to start it with both TB electrical connections disconnected. This time it ended up at around 8V after trying to start it.
I started charging the battery again using the 2A trickle charger, and it seemed to charge unusally fast. It was around 9.5V, and I disconnected the battery cables on the battery, and checked the voltage of the battery with nothing connected to it at all. It was initially around 9.5V, and I watched it climb all the way to 11.5V!!! How can a battery gain 2V with nothing connected to it?
Do you think it's a bad battery, a short, a fried PCM? I don't know what to try next.
Re: Car won't start, electrical problem? (Miles in Michigan)
sounds like the battery croaked.from what you are describing it sounds like the plates in the battery got hard[sulfated].has the car been sitting prior to your repair?

It was sitting for about a week while I did the repair (dealer gave me wrong part, had to order a new one), but before that I drove it almost every day for the last 3 years, and never had a problem.
I left the battery disconnected since my last post, it's voltage has climbed to 11.98V. I don't know what to make of that at all, but I will try replacing the battery.

I had the same problem. my car was making the exact same noises. It was the battery. Just replace and check all your connections and you should be good to go.
