can you replace the batteries in the tire sensors,,,,have a chance to buy 4 and need to know if they have a shelf life when not used,,,I have a 98 and wonder what life is,,I have been told 5 years,, so I am close,, do they go dead quicker the more you drive,, or last longer with low miles,,,do they constantly send the signal or only when moving??? Would it be a good deal to buy 4 used ones for spares?????HELP   :chevy :chevy :chevy :bs
If you are in doubt about the life of the sensors, you may want to check out this forum vendor, they recondition the sensors and install new batteries in them: http://www.nericreations.com/
The sensors update (I think) every 60 seconds while the car is in motion (over 20mph). When not moving, they only update once an hour, so a sensor sitting on a shelf, or off a low mileage car should last longer.
If you are buying used sensors, note there are 2 different styles, 97-00, and 01-04. You must keep the same style sensor on your car, they are not interchangeable.
So in your case, any sensor from a 97-00 car will work for you.
