Default Front Turn Signal

How do you change it? Seems like the car has to be lifted?

my right front went out, put it in the air and took the vent looking thing that held it on and just moved it down, then u can get to it, however, put new bulbs in and still didnt work, took to dealer, turns out that if u dont turn the light bulbs over the right way they dont work so if u elect to do it ur self, if it dont work flip the bulb and if that dont work go to the dealer which may be the easiest way in the long run

I don't understand what the 1st reply means, so I'll reply too.

1. On the side where the signal is burnt out, reach into the brake duct opening, and push down the accordian style ducting. You may have to push in a little before pushing down. Don't worry about breaking it, I was huffing and cussing, and didn't mess mine up.

2. Put your hand, and just about your entire forearm into the brake duct opening and feel around for the bulbs. You'll need to twist it before you can pull it out. I believe the bulb types are 194 or 3194, I can't really remember what the second bulb it, or what either one does. I just pull out the dead bulb to see what type of bulb needs replacing.

3. Now that you have the bulb out of the socket, pull the bulb and plug as close to the brake duct opening as possible. You should be able to get it out, or at least be able to see it. Now pull the bulb out of the socket, put a new one in, and reverse those steps.

If your hands are small enough you can also raise the headlight and remove the plastic bezel and reach through it to access the bulb. My hands were too big so I had to do it the way the service manual says by removing the bottom "front fascia lower close out panel" and accessing the bulb from there. Once that panel is removed there's plenty of room to reach everything.

Josh, use one of those methods in removing and replacing your bulb...and then do yourself a favor...remove the #2 fuse in your fuse box under the hood(next to the battery) and you won't have to worry about replacing that bulb (and it's twin on the other side) for a long, long time. The geniuses at GM put DRLs (Daylight Running Lamps) that are on all the time your ignition is on...and of course, that drastically cuts down the life of the bulb. With #2 fuse out, your DRLs will no longer be on. Only thing it affects is at night when you lock/unlock your doors..the front bulbs will not flash. Everything else will work normally.

They obviously made the location of the bulb so hard that it almost forces you to take it to the dealer so that they can charge you an "arm and a leg" to replace. Hopefully, the C6 will be easier to replace. :yesnod:

Oh, and without the DRLs there is less of chance that the local police will aim their LASER/Radar gun between the two BRIGHT yellow lights.

This is the easiest way. Took about 20 minutes the first time, about 5 minutes the second time.

If they have Pep Boys there... the install is only 5 dollars... You can also remove the headlight surround ( black Plastic piece.. it is held in place with 3 phillips screw)... remove the hood adjuster reach down and with a quarter turn remove the socket from the housing... replace the bulb ( get in the habit of not touching the glass on the bulbs with your fingers.. use a cloth, tissue paper or plastic gloves...the oils on your skin will make some bulbs burn out prematurely..

The bottom line is that GM knew that with the DRLs on constantly that the bulb(s) would burn out prematurely...just plain common sense...and then they turn around and make it a real PITA to change the bulb just so that you can bring it in and charge you about $50 to replace the $2 bulb. Typical BS.

So I will beat them at their own game and make the bulb(s) last longer by disabling the DRLs.

I completely agree with you. So how do you disable the DRL (in easy form)?

To disable the DRL, pull underhood fuse #2.

Be aware that this will also disable the back-up lights flashing when you hit the lock/unlock button on the fob. The back-up lights will still function normally when you are in reverse gear however.

Some folks don't approve of disabling DRL's because of the extra visibility/safety they offer so put your flame suit on. :)
