Default Rear and Trans fluid recommendations.....

I have the dreaded rear leak problem....

I figured since they will be re-sealing the rear, i mine as well have them change the fluid anyway.... and while they are under their - let's do the trans also.

So with that said.... What is a good replacement fluid for these items? and capacities...

Thanks

Who is going to do the work? A GM dealer? Will theyuse anything other than GM fluids? The reason I ask, is because I have known several that will only use GM stuff. That said, I would use Amsoil if possible. :yesnod: :)

Redline 75w90 for the diff. 2 quarts and it already has the friction modifier mixed in. http://www.myoilshop.com/SynGrOil.html

Redline D4 ATF 4 quarts for MN6. http://www.myoilshop.com/ATF.html
I have been using both for years. Good for the street and added protection if you run track events.

I just developed the leak myself. The car is out of warranty. How much can I expect to pay to have this fixed?

My leak stopped when I switched to Redline. Could have been a case of factory/dealer overfill but it didn't pour out when I pulled the plug. I think Redline causes minor seal swelling.

No leak but I went to RedLine D4ATF in the tranny and 75/90 gear oil for diff. Trans shifting was notably smoother. Rear end, who knows but made me feel good! As a bit of useless info, just changed my 04 Mustang Cobra to GM Syncromesh which works better in the T56 trans than RedLine per the SVT Forum majority of Cobra people. Apparently RedLine affects the seals in the Mustang trans.
