On my 2002 coupe ive noticed that the last couple of times when i start it i see a puff of smoke out the back when it starts, i havent ever noticed this happening before, any ideas on whats happening? Surely with only 10,000 miles the valve seals wouldnt be leaking.

I would let the dealer know of your concerns and problems!!! Get the problem down on GM paper!! If it is a MAJOR problem and it gets close or past the the warrenty period you would be covered! Are you sure that it is a BAD smoke!! When the outside air temp is real low the moisture in the exhaust will condense in the exhaust and look a lot like excessive visable emissions! If you have access to a heated garage, try to store it there and start the car when the air temp is 40 deg or greater!
I live in CT and the weather is VERY COLD!! When I start my car it looks like it smokes alot when in fact it is due to it being VERY cold out!! (10 degrees)
BuBBA !!! is it cold outside in monroe city??? could this be your problem... hot exhaust gasses hitting the cold outside temp? Its winter here in Philly... and most of the cars around here smoke... cause it's WINTER !!!
I hope that is all it is, i realize a vehicle smokes or steams when it is cold out and its definetly to dam cold here, but it seems this smoke has a blue tint to it, hopefully im just imagining it.
What color is the smoke? If it is not blue it could be moisture but if it is blue it sounds like oil. If it is black it could be a rich condition on start up caused by something like an injector leaking down. Let me know what you find.
with ten thousand miles , valve seats are highly unlikely... a good test for valve seat failure... run the car up to 60 mph... in the highest gear you have ... 6th gear, or allow it to shift A4 into high... let it coast (foot off the gas) for 100 yards or so.. then hit the gas... if you get a puff then... it is your valve seats, or seals... my only other thought would be that a seal was instaled with a crack in it..
