I'veused the R&M Twin Flow, the Blackwing and now, the VaraRam. Of those three I've run, bang-for-the-buck, performance, looks and ease of installation, I have to give the nod to the Blackwing. :yesnod:

I went with the Geoff Skorupa Twin K&N filter setup .

Its pictured on this site http://www.performancetechcenter.com/index3.htm

Go to Parts , C5 section and scroll down .

It performs very well and has dyno #s to match.

There is a noticable differance as soon as you put it on .

Alot more throttle responce .

Do like the other guys, buy all of them, try them out and the one with the best blast in the seat of your pants keep. Then put the rest on the for sale forum and let the rest of us get a good deal. Sounds fair to me.

If you go with a twin tube design, don't remove the MAF screen. The turbulent airflow caused by the merged tube design can give the MAF problems reading the air flow. If you drive the car in the rain, and have the possibility of driving through large puddles of standing water, you may want to avoid those filters that use the ram air design. If that isn't a concern, they will probably give you the best performance gains. For all around performance, and peace of mind, I went with the Blackwing.

Generally what you will hear is that the members who respond will tell you that what they have is what they recommend. It's the basic need to believe that what you did is the right thing. So... do your research any way that you want and then buy what your research tells you is best and then never visit the subject again unless you are really unhappy with what you bought.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.......well since you asked:

My 2000 FRC had a K&N replacement......
My 2000 Coupe had a Breathless Vortex Cold Air Intake
My 2001 Z06 was kept stock
My 2002 Coupe had a K&N replacement
My 2002 Z06 had a HallTech T-1C

And now, there had been so many more members who have had "longer" owners experience's with their intakes, especially with the Blackwing..........
I guess I needed a bit of help in making an informed decision.........I KNOW that most are about the same as far as performance goes........

I don't get out much and wife is no help :nonod: ........so I turn to the only family I trust (usually.. ;) )

...very true. I've been researching intakes for quite some time now and have witnessed gains (or lack thereof) during dyno days. Cold air systems WILL give you an advantage at high rpms, so for racing and dragging, the Vararam, Vortex, Halltech TRAP with Tunnelport, Granatelli, and K&N FIPK systems are at the top of the heap. Among these, the Vararam and Halltech stand to produce the most gains most from their direct "RAM" designs. A step down is occupied by the "indirect" cold air systems (the rest of those listed).

The third step down is occupied by the filters that have a greater open-element surface area than the stock setup, but ordinarily do not benefit from cold air induction. These include the Blackwing, Twin-Flow, and Volant filters.

As you may have guessed, those occupying the third level are among the least expensive. Of them, the Blackwing (at $200) represents a good bang for the buck. However, if you want the greatest gains (and you don't live in California), go with one of those listed at the top of the heap, especially if you intend to mod further. Since I live in Cali, the highest level I can choose from is level 2. Fortunately, even the K&N FIPK has been dyno-proven to add 17 RWHP. This may very well be my choice in the near future.

I have had the vortex and the blackwing. I have used the blackwing on my past 3 C5's and I am happy with it. I think I felt more of a gain with the vortex but never dynoed. The blackwing is alot easier to instal. Kaley

Had a Blackwing on my coupe, now a twinflow on the Z. Another Blackwing is on the way. That's my vote.

My recommendation - get the Blackwing. Easy install, good price, and decent performance gain.

I just put the BBK cold air induction set up on mine, which basically is a filter like the blackwing with a chrome air bridge.with the weather we have here i havent had much of a chance to see how it works.

My vote is for the Blackwing. Easy install and maintenance, and provides a nice surface area filter with no concerns for hydralock.
