Something is aparently dangling and touching against that rotates. This happens both when I accelerate forward and when I brake in reverse. Chevy replaced the Cats, thinking that was the problem. Had no effect.
By the sound of it, the dangling item is metalic. I've searched the engine compartment and undercarriage and I cab't find anything. Someone suggested an intake planum.
Does anyone have any ideas. I realize this problem is vague, but any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Re: Rattling Noise From Engine COmpartment (STONEjam)
After installing headers I too had a rattle/squeeking sound that seemed to follow the RPM's. I buddy came over and shined a light up towards the back of the firewall near the brake booster and noticed the drivers side AIR tube (which had to be removed and re-installed) had shifted a little and part of the metal tubing was now rubbing on a nut/bolt that sticks through the firewall. After looking at stock C5's I can see the tube is about 1/4 inch away from the firewall and that bolt. I had to "re-arrange" the AIR tube assembly to get it away from the firewall/bolt.
