Default X pipe installation problem

I installed a Magnaflow X pipe on a 2000 Coupe. Stock mufflers. The holes on the flanges of the H pipe where threaded. The flanges on the mufflers are holes with no threads. Cut off the H pipe. Install the X pipe. Attempted to bolt the Magnaflow X pipe to the stock mufflers with the bolts supplied by Magnaflow. The bolts are too big to go tru the holes in the stock muffler flanges. Can't use the stock bollts that came out of ths stock H pipe. They where not really bolts because thet screwed into threaded holes in the stock H pipe. Had to go under the car and drill the holes in the stock muffler flanges bigger while the mufflers hung down loose. Was not prepared to raise the car high enough to get them out. I thougth this was a simple bolt on MOD. I was not a happy camper. Did I MISS something in the Magnaflow instructions or is this normal. :cuss :cuss

I've installed 2 Magnaflow x-pipes on my cars and never had this problem. Both my cars were Z06's, but it doesn't seem like that should have mattered. The bolts supplied with the x-pipe worked fine. I guess I probably would have just gone to the hardware store and picked up a couple smaller bolts to use rather than drill out the stock over the axle pipes, but either way would have gotten you to the same end. Oh, well, at least they're on now , but a real PITA, huh??

I bought one of C5Lou's used X-pipes and used stainless steel nuts, washers and bolts in American sizes to do it up. Went on fine and sounds awesome!
Thx C5Lou! :flag

I would have thought that the bolts would have been the same as stock. I went with a Bassani X-pipe and the bolts fit just fine. Glad you got it to work, but sorry you had to do so much to get it right.
