Default Help...Replacing rotors but ran into a problem

I was removing my calipers and rotors today and all was going well until I tried to pull the left rear rotor. It was really difficult to wiggle it off and as it came off what looks like a spring popped out. I think it has something to do with the e-brake but looking at the right side doesn't show me where it belongs. Can anyone tell me where and how to re-install this thing. Thanks in advance.

Mike

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about...

That thing is the parking brake shoe spring! It goes between the two shoes. It fits 180 degrees out from the actuator. It took me a while to find it in the shop manual but I did! It looks like it fits into two clips! one on each break shoe! The ends of the wire clip rest against the shoes. The curved piece at the "V" rest against the backing plate!!

Please let me know if I can give you any more help in figuring this thing out!!!

Mike, I had mine out yesterday. It fits inside the e brake shoes. The little straight sections that are on opposite sides, they are about 1/2" long. They go behind the little clips that are formed out of the backing plate. The two end fit in the e brake shoe. The top fits up tight on the e brake backing plate. There is only one way it will fit. In your picture, if you were to pick it up it would go on just like that. Don,t flip it. If you pivot the e brake shoe down you can see the clips a lot better, if the shoe falls down,. don't worry just put a back, no big deal. Use a screw driver (little Diameter Shank) with a small notch in it so it won't slip. It takes a little patience. Took me about 3 minutes. good luck Gary :steering:

Bill, it must be REAL cold up there for you to help all these guys out while your baby won't even get you to the liquor store and back! You don't want to know, probably, about me eating out outside today in Appalachicola. What's your latest?

It's V E R Y cold and it's suppose to snow on Tuesday 7+ inches! I got to work on my car in a 10 bay heated garage today for free!
In the summer it is airconditioned!!!! Around July I will write you and say " Man it's 75 degrees here today and I have not had to sweat one drop yet!

I really enjoy working on problems over the internet! I do spend more time on the forum when the weather is crappy!

What a great place this forum is. Here's to all the people who jump right in to solve problems

BTW, it's supposed to get into the low 70's today here in Houston (and sunny), but yes, we will be sweating our nads off in July
