Default 501hp & 451 rtq wow--

Well as you guys know two of our tuners (I don't think I'm allowed to mention names) have set new levels--these numbers amount to 1.45rwhp per CI (and this with 410 gears) and 451lbs of torque or 1.31 lbs per CI---if I applied those numbers to my 436 I would have 570lbs or torque and 631rwhp--now if I can only get them to work together to build me a motor my quest for power would be over----congrads to both of these guys and once again my hat goes off to the guys who put in all the long hours and money to perfecting our motors

Bill,

What modifications were made to the engine that allowed to achieve such outstanding numbers seeing that it is a 346?

As has been discussed ad nauseum in earlier posts, the big motors are stifled by currently available heads/intakes/throttle bodies. Hopefully, the stuff coming through the pipeline this year will address the problem. In the interim, the fact that Brent's 346 is only 27 RWHP shy of my 427 (built by the same unmentionable tuner) makes me puke.

 I'm with you Marco, these guys are going to have to forge their lower ends to keep from blowing them with NA power--unfortunately at this point things are not looking so good for finding a way to make them breath, someone is going to have to learn to work with the FAST soon and build a big TB or I'm going to shell out for a sheetmetal custom job, this is nuts---

There's always the forced induction option. A little pressure will help push more air through those little holes.

Marco--I just got rid of a blower motor and would like to stay NA don't want to have all that stuff under the hood just something else to deal with and maintain, but I know what you mean--

Dave--I can't wait to see what you do with the 427 for crying out loud if you get close to the hp per CI it will be unbelievable--Brent made some mention of waiting on AFR's I assume the 225's, I can't wait to see what you guys are able to do with these heads--

Neptuneball and Marco:

I think you guys are gettting a little bit hung up on peak HP and torque numbers made vs. the average amount of HP and Torque made throughout the entire RPM band.

For instance, my 427 C5R based MTI motor although has not put down HUGE peak HP numbers yet on its initial dyno tune session after being built by MTI this past September, but IS making just about 450RWHP at JUST 4500 RPMs and over 500rwtq at just 4000 rpms. Try to pull those numbers out of a 346 at those rpms, etc.

My point is that our big cubed superstroker motors when matched up in a drag race or any other raw acceleration contest will destroy the same big HP H/C stock cubed set up all other major variables being the same, i.e.-same car, suspension, driver, traction, etc.

I agree our motors have alot left in them and its just a matter of time that new cams, intakes, etc. are R&Ded on the big cubed motors to the point that the 346 motors are being R&Ded right now, but don't get hung up on PEAK HP numbers but instead look at the AVERAGE HP AND TORQUE made by the cars throughout the entire rpm band and enjoy what you have (complete torque monsters and HP throughout the entire rpm band and not just at 6500 to 7000rpms).

Also, Neptuneball, A small LS1 tuner near Chicago, Nate of NASTY PERFORMANCE located in lake in the hills, IL, is selling a nice sheetmetal intake for around 2K (ouch) that looks somewhat promising and picked up at least 20rwhp on initial testing on a 427LS1. I don't have a phone number handy but if you look that name and city up in the phone info directory you probably could get it pretty easily!  :chevy
