Default Rims

I have a great offer for some black z06 motorsport rims.
The fronts are 18x9.5
I eventually will buy the backs (money is low) but I want the goodyear Gs-d3's
So i assume I will be getting the 18x10.5 for the back. I will be running 285 tires all the way around.
Are there going to be any problems with this setup with rubbing or fitting?
I know this has been covered, but what is stopping me from getting say 18x9.5 all the way around so that i can rotate the front and back tires for extended use?
Thanks for your help

What is stopping you is that many people have experienced problems with traction control coming on during normal driving when using the same size tire all around.

Stock, the rear tire is about 1" taller than the front. Ideally, you want to keep this height difference, ir at least 1/2" to prevent this from occuring.
You can use 18's front and rear, but you should choose a taller tire for the rear. (ie 265/35 front, 295/35 rear). The traction control works by comparing the front/rear wheel speeds. When it detects the rear wheel spinning faster than the fronts, it cuts power. By using the same size tire all around, the TC computer is already "seeing" the rear wheel turning slightly faster than the front since the rear was 1" taller before.

Some people will tell you they have done this and not had any problems, but plenty others have not been so lucky. If you do run into this problem, you will have to always drive with the traction control off. And if you use a front tire that is as tall and wide as the rear, you will probably have some rubbing issues.

If you want the D3's, you are kind of limited by the small selection of suitable sizes they are made in. I would suggest using a 275/35/18 front - 275/40/18 rear on 18x9.5's all around to avoid any problems.

Well if i have to have different sizes on the front and back I might as well get the 10.5s on the back
with18x 9.5 on the front and 18x10.5 on the back i shouldnt have any problems with running 285 all the way around right?

If the D3 was made in a 285/30 size you could...but they aren't.

The 285/35 will be too tall for the front and you will definitely have rubbing issues. And even if it did fit, what would you use on the rear to keep the height difference?

Ok so I am starting to understand this.
From the goodyear website it looks like the best combination is the
265/35/18 for the fronts
285/35/18 for the rears
Any problems with that matchup?
Maybe there is another tire out there that compares well with the D3's has good life and has more size options?

Thanks.

The fronts are 19x9.5 - 275/30/19. Rears are 20x10 - 285/30/20 Pirelli Pzero tires.
