 What part of the exhaust are you trying to remove, it's seperated into 3 different sections first there are 2 exhaust manifolds and next you have the stock H-pipe that will include the catalytic converters and finally you have the cat-back system which includes the mufflers.
Re: Exhaust install help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (LoneStarFRC)
on my A4, I was able to get it all out without raising the car the full 30 inches (or whetever the distance is) by removing the rear wheels - and of course dropping the rear sway bar.
Still was a PIA.
On a lift, one can get the stock mufflers out in 20 minutes.
I have heard of people doing it with 30" clearance but I couldnt do it at that height. I had almost 36" and it was tight. When you rotate the muffl ers toward the floor the tips hit the ground. At that point you need to rotate the muffs toward center of the car kinda unscrewing it then the flange will clear and it will drop out. Just be patient and go easy. Reverse the proceedue to install. Just be careful. With car up so high its a bit spooky and even if it feels secure it may not be. I took a couple pics of mine up in the air. I dont know how to post here but I will email them to you to give you a better idea. Good luck
For goodness sakes don't cut the exhaust off!!!! Just loosen the sway bar then torque the bolts back to 49lb/ft on the top bolts and 70lb/ft. for the bottom bolts. That simple.
Re: Exhaust install help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Roadfrog)
Because we were using 4x6s on top of the floor jack cradle, we had to completely disconnect the right side of the sway bar and swing it out of the way in order to swing the pipe out. You'll need a torx bit (forgot what size) to do this. The height of the car was about 31 inches.

It was -5 degrees outside with the garage door open, and we were trying to wiggle out the cat-backs while the car was on a lift. The car wasn't back far enough on the lift(4 post) so while I was shivering, I yelled CUT EM OFF!!!
It's so much easier doing it that way. Putting on the Borla Stingers was much easier the next morning.

Yeah once you chip out all the ice blocks to make room they fit better. Fourtunatly weuns dont have that problem down heah  And please tell me it wasnt a Titanium system you cut  O the pain of it all if it be true. If it is save the pieces you can probably sell the pieces anyway. :steering:
I actually went to sears, got an SUV jack with a 20 in lift height and a set of matching jack stands. I jacked the car up as high as i could and finally figured out you have to "turn" the exhaust and it comes right out BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I DID not cut it, i replaced the stock C5 exhaust with a 2002 Z06 titanium exhaust and it LOOKS, Sounds, AUSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
