Some basic Chassis info?
I've never owned a C5, but I've got some ideas about building a car based on a 'vette chassis.
What I see for sale on Ebay does not come with frame rails, but from another discussion thread on this site, I gather there ARE side rails as part of the car. How does this work? do the side rails bolt to the fiberglass body, and to the engine subframe etc?
The driveshaft/torque tube housing that connects the crank to the transmission... how does this work? I can't seem to find any technical details on it. Is it a composite torque tube, or a shaft on bearings, or what? I ask because I may be interested in changing the wheelbase length slightly, and the easiest way I can see is to modify the driveline link, should that be possible.
I'm sure I'll have many more thoughts and questions, this seems like a great forum. Thanks in advance for any help!
