Sound driving me crazy!
I have a 99 vert and recently everytime I turn to the left or go over a bump I hear a clanking type sound come from the front right my friend and I listened under the hood and the sounds seems to be coming from the rack and pinion or something in that area. Anyone else have this problem? Or is it something else. It really worries me don't like the thought of my steering getting messed up. I'm doing heads and cam swap in about a week so i would like to be able to fix it when we do all that.

Check all your suspension parts like the shocks. May want to take it to a good mechanic that has experience in suspensions. Good luck getting this fixed.

I had the same problum on my 01, I was getting clunking sound coming from the front end. Took it to the dealer and it took them a while to find out what it was. They said it was the ball joints, they greased them and no more clunking. But knowing there is no zerk fittings (grease fitting) I ask how they greased them. The said they used a pin needle to get the grease in.
