"Chugging" Sound...
Hey all-
New Corvette owner, with some newbie questions:
I have a 2000 Coupe, pretty much bone stock except a K & N with an "opened" air box. Did the Dremel thing.
I've noticed that under hard acceleration (2-3500 RPM ish pulling from a stop or going up an onramp) that I can hear what sounds like a muffleld Chuging sound. Kinda what an old steam locomotive sounds like. The sound does vary with RPM and is only present when the engine is under load. I remember my dad's old 1970 Commander Motorhome (With a Dodge 440) made this sound on acceleration. Is this a normal sound for an OHV V8?

Could it be exhaust related? What does it do when your in 6th and give it full throttle? Is the same sound present. How many miles on the car?
Could the exhaust system be restricting exhaust flow?

No, it's only in the lower gears, and only when pulling hard. Like a rapid accelleration from a stop or crawl or say when accellerating uphill.
Stock system, 50,000 miles.
