Wheel hop problems?
Jason
ps I did a search, and wheel hop topics show up, but the posting doesn't pull up. So here I am.

I see no satisfactory street solution except getting sticky enough tires so than they do not spin, and hence no hopping either.

Thanks,

To combat hop some would use stiffer motor/tranny mounts and/or poly suspension bushings. This may or may not help... but the real solution would be to use custom made bars that would tie the lower control arms to the frame of the car. These bars would allow the up/down articulation but not the forward/back movement
http://www.overboost.com/story.asp?id=460 was a good article about it. However now looks like they charge to read the entire thing, but the first page should give you an idea of what it looks liket.
I thought I left wheel hop behind with FWD but this car does it too. However I only have hop when its cold out. I can still do prolongued huge burnouts if I desire and so far at the drag strip no problems, so I'm not going to let it bother me. However if somebody can fab those "radius bars' for our car I'd be willing to buy.
Stiffer shocks /springs probably wont do much as much of the moment is forwards/backwards. I'd like to hear what somebody with poly control arm bushings has to say about this...

Second, I'd suggest dropping your F1SC tire pressure back to stock (30 psi cold) on the street. Doing only that will certainly reduce the onset of hop.
Finally, if you search the Z06 board "archive" for "wheel hop" you will find a lot of good threads that explore various approaches to eliminating the problem.

Someone on the forum said a stiffer sway bar might help. NOT! Got a stiffer bar and aluminum end links and still have hop. I found out that if you shock the drive line to do a burn out it hops a LOT more than if you preload the drive line by letting the clutch out until you feel it start grab and then give it HELL.
I use the preload method and have reduced the hop to the point that I dont worry mych about it any more.

As I stated in my original posting, I did do the search function for wheel hop, and it did return many topic headings for wheel hop, but when you attempt to open them, there is nothing there. As somebody else stated, the search function doesn't seem to be working correctly. Thanks for all the replys so far, I'll try dropping my tire pressures down to 30 and see what happens.
