Brake question, silcone vs Dot 4?

Default Brake question, silcone vs Dot 4?

Getting ready to do the Baer rotors Hawk pads brake job, can I empty the system, with a power bleeder, then re-fill and use silcone Dot 5 fuild, will this work? or do I have to flush system before using silcone? and what would you flush it with>

silicone??? do you mean synthetic??? dont use synthetic... one of the best brake fluids out there is Ford's Dot 4.. it has a 550 boiling point.. about 2.50 a pint. Many guys here on the forum use it

Don't use silicone DOT 5 fluid. This is incompatible with the ABS system, and doesn't tolerate the pressure fluctuations that the ABS puts into the system. It will fall below vapor pressure and you will end up with bubbles in the system. Stick with a good DOT 4 fluid, I plan on using the "Blue Stuff" :yesnod:
