Default pulling engine

I am pulling to do some mods and am wondering if the drive shaft is balanced and should be marked to the flex plate .
Does it have to exactly line up as it came out ?
This is an A4 car?

No, but you'll see 2 plugs on the bottom side of the tube that your supposed to pull and screw in bolts to support the torque tube when you seperate it from the flexplate, if you fail to do this the torque tube will drop down and be a real PITA to line up when you put it back together.

What will the bolts be bolting to when engine is removed and are you using the removed bolts for this ?

I haven't removed my torque tube so I'm not sure what size bolts to use, but the purpose of the bolts is just to support the inner shaft so when the clamp is loosened and seperated from the flexplate the inner shaft won't relax and rest on the inside of the torque tube.

I saw the 2 plugs and they look fairly small, maybe -8 or -6, I'll check the service manual when I get home and see if it says what size and thread bolts to use.

Sorry it took so long to respond, the bolts needed are 1.5 X 55 mm and the manual says to torque them to 26 ft. lb. which sounds kind of strange, I thought they would just be tightened enough to touch the inner shaft and thats it.
