Default Question about installing new shocks

I am really considering getting 04 Z06 shocks. How difficult is the install and what kind of time frame is involved. A friend of mine is very mechanically inclined and can help. Anything special to consider? I have heard you should get an alignment after changing shocks - is this true?

I apologize as I'm sure this question has been asked before. Anyone else waiting for the SEARCH function to get fixed?
Thanks in advance.

I'd say that it's probably around 3 hours start-to-finish, if you haven't done it before. It's a very straightforward job. Nothing has to come off or apart other than the shocks themselves.

There's nothing special to consider. A trick that makes it easy is to have some strong zip-ties. Compress the shocks as much as you can by leaning on them before you install them, and zip-tie them in that length. They are much easier to get into place that way. Then, you can cut the zip ties once it's time to bolt everything back together.

Since the varying gas pressure can cause the ride-height of the car to change after install, getting an alignment would be optimal to ensure that your toe didn't get too wonky in the process.

:iagree: Three hours if you take a really long beer break  These shocks are really good, by the way, on the street and on the track.

Thanks for the replies. I have ordered the shocks.
By the way, if your car isn't a Z, I suggest you also get the Z06 swaybars.
