Default Rocking seat fix update

The good news is that the fix works pretty good. My rocking chair is about 95% better. The biggest problem I had, after reinstalling and taking apart the assembly three times, was I had the screw trolley on one side located about 3/4" forward of the other side. When I tested it on the bench( the dinette table) it worked fine. But when I bolted it in the car it would try and move diagonaly to the mounting points which it couldnt so it would bind up and not move. So when you remove the trolley & screw shaft assembly mark or measure how the shaft protrudes from either side of the trolley so it is the same when you put it back. Otherwise the only way is to reassemble one side and measure how far the track on the bottom goes past the track on the top and mess with the trolley on the other side until they match. The rocking motion pretty much goes away by replaceing the rubber spacers. Mine were still there but I guess they softened up so they compressed a lot and caused the excess movement. This fix definately works. The only thing I did different was instead of making one thick spacer to fill the gap, I made two, to replace the two rubber pads one on each side of the steel threaded nut that lives in the trolley. I made them out of brass stock figuring they would last longer than alum and not hurt the threaded rod. I hope this bit of info helps someone with similar problems and my thanks to those who posted the fix and inputed to my first post.

I should have repeated the info from the previous post that showed that you dont have to spread the rails or grind any rivits to get the trolley assembly out. There are two T-25 torx on the bottom of the trolley and one T-40 torx at the rear end of the threaded rod. Once you remove them the trolley/treaded rod assembly pulls out to the rear as you slide the track to the rear. It goes back in the same way. Sometimes it is a bit tough to get the flexable drive rod back in the end of the threaded rod asit is a square end to a square hole in the rod. Be careful not to over tighten the T-25 torks on the trolley as there is only a bit over an 1/8 in of thread. I had mine apart so many times I stripped one and had to use a larger cut off self tap to replaace it. Again I wish I had the email of the post for both versions of the fix. I printed them out so I could refer to them while I worked on the seat and they got a bit greasy during the multiple reassembly so I tossed them.. I havent heard if the achive is fixed yet to search but at least one way is under the tech tip section at the top of the web page.
