Backfire?

Backfire?
Today I was on the freeway behind a truck gave it some gas to go aroung it and I got a backfire and it whent to idle, gave it some more gas and it backfired again and would not rev. I pulled over and shut it down checked codes nothing. started it back up and everything was fine.
What the hell happened?

It was just a giant build up of gas... I know from personal experience that when I get a build up of gas.. I too backfire... it smells bad too
