Can someone tell me if there is a safe place under the rear of the C-5 that you can jack from while the front is on rhino's? After you answer that question, then my next would be to ask where is the safe place to put the jack stands?
Jack the rear in the center of the rear cross member. Put the jack stands just to the outer ends of that cross member, not on the A arms. You might have to drive up on 2x10s to get the back up enough for the jack.
Thanks for the info... looked under there to jack and saw what looked like alloy, got nervous!! I have the front up on the ramps waiting for me... will go slip the jack under there and give her a whirl! Thanks Again
Your owner's manual will suggest jacking points at either end of that cross member. I too was nervous to put the jack in the middle - don't know that the cross member is strong enough in the middle to support the weight of the rear end of the car, without flexing.
Then I read a post from another forum member who took a piece of 2X6, 26" long, and balanced it on the center of his jack, and along the length of the cross member; then jacked up the car using the 2X6 to distribute the weight throughout the length of the cross member. Tried it - when I took the car down, impressions in the wood indicated good contact. Looks like a safe procedure.

Thanks for the info, I jacked without the 2x6 yesterday but I think my future lifting will utilize this addition to the procedure. Stop in with your Vette on a future nice day (this is Buzz from over at Titan).

Buzz, roger, I'll do that. Didn't notice the Charleston location when I first read your post. Nice thing about the 2X6 also, once you get the rear up in the air, you can put the jackstands under each end of the wood, and easily shift the load from the jack to the jack stands. But right now, I think the Vette needs some sunshine and fresh air....
I took two pieces of 2x2 and screwed them to the centre line of the 2x6, so that the 2x2s fit in the void between the two crossmember bars. This keeps the 2x6 from slipping, and centres the 2x6 on the crossmember.
You can then put the jack stands at either end of the 2x6, or at the frame jacking points.
You'll definitely need to get the rear wheels up on a 2x6 block in order to get the jack and 2x6 under the crossmember.
