Default Adding z06 sway bars?

What are the pros and cons to adding z06 sway bars to a base fe1 vert? I can get both bars and bushings for $132.00.

The car will crabwalk side to side a little over uneven ground, but not harshly like the aftermarket or T1 bars.

It will greatly improve yur turn in "feel" and response. You'll find yourself cranking the wheel with childlike bliss.

Soon you'll be a godlike...as I am...with young maidens throwing themselves at your feet. Fire and lightening will preceed you, as a stark warning of your style and bravado. sj

Good question! I have the FE45 ride control and like how the car feels/rides down the highway. If the Z06 sways make it corner better and do not detract from ride quality than I am looking forward to this inexpensive mod. People...chime in with your comments..Please!

lol

Seriously, do it. I did it on my '03 coupe with the Z51 option -- I only needed the front Z06 bar (Z51 already has the rear bar) -- big improvement!

I replaced my stock FE45 front and rear sway bars with Z06 sway bars the day after I bought the car and have never looked back. These sway bars are by far the best addition made to this ride system.

Great upgrade. Will make the car flatter in the corners. I put Z51 shocks on at the same time, very happy.

Is there a big difference between the z51 and z06 bars? Should I consider the z51 instead of the z06? Thanks for the help.

No, the differences aren't big. At least they aren't big enough that I can actually measure any difference.

I'd go with the one that's the better price, or availability, etc.

Now, the '04 Z06 shocks are supposed to be quite a bit better than the Z51 or the Bilstein Sport shocks, so I'd go that route when (not if) you change shocks. If you're looking at changing out the bars you're probably not going to be satisfied with the stock shocks and Z06 or Z51 bars.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

I see by your signature that you have a 2003. The standard suspension has a 23.1mm front and 19.1mm sway bars. By comparison, the FE4 (Z06) sway bars are 30mm front and 23.6mm rear. Anyway, it will make a big difference in cornering without sacrificing ride comfort. For that price, do it. You wont be sorry. Just make sure you get the aluminum end links and torque them to spec. Good luck. – C.

THAT'S what it is. I knew I liked this mod, but what a way to describe it. And if you are paying attention, I left out the "maidens" part because I have four daughters and a sweet wife and any mod that added maidens would have to be "de-modded."

Do the anti-sway bar thing, you won't regret it... :smash: :yesnod:

Ha! I didn't realize this! Anyone have a front Z06 sway bar part number handy? :hurray:

Since we are on the topic and I'm a bit newbish-
I realize the differences in Z06 to coupes are the shocks, springs, sway bars, brakes, weight, engine differences, is there anything else I'm missing? I'm curious since I might be going with a coupe in a few months but love the idea of race-like handling.
Thanks
Chris

Umm, the body style is different
Seriously, the body is stiffer, which has some small effect on handling, I'm sure. The thing you would notice is the different suspension parts and tires.

Probably more than anyone wanted to know but what the heck. The standard FE1 suspension has 23.1mm front and 19.1 mm rear sway bars. The swaybar dimensions of the 97 - 99 Z51 suspension are 25.4 mm diameter in front, 21.7 mm rear. Plastic end links were used all around. For 2000 2001, they were changed to 28.6 mm front, 23.6 rear and steel end links in front only. (Take note JasonFRC) In 2002, aluminum links were used in all four corners. The Z06 (FE4) uses a hollow 30mm front and the same 23.6 rear with aluminum links all around. Hope this helped someone. - C.

O.K. I'm sold on the bars! Delivered should be around $220. Any idea what labor to install them is?
