With each step up in cam, there is an exponential expense in less drivability.
It also must be professionally tuned by someone who knows what they are doing.
Generally speaking, for each 10-15 RWHP jump above 425 you can expect to pay a bit in driveabiltiy, even with good LS1 editing.
My Cartek H cam (224/228 567/571 113 LSA) with Lingenfelter CNC LS6 11.2-1 heads seems to me the limit for a daily driver and long trip car w/o the big cam problems you can experience (with LS1 editing).
On a conservative dyno and conservative tuning in 85 degree humid weather I made over 423 to the rears, and it runs flawlessly with a 925 idle. Also still gets 28 mpg highway at 80 with the A/C on.
My Futral 228/230 idle just fine in Atlanta rush hour traffic, and managed 32 mpg going to Winter then 29 mpg on the way back. I have 3.42 gears and a M12.
I also believe they recommend changing to a different gear, going to 4.10s. You have to think you are changing your curve considerably. I would never put that cam in a daily driver, but thats just IMHO. Im looking at a stealthier cam from my daily driver (26 miles to work one way), possibly a TR Old Man cam, or an MTI stealth cam..The most I think I will go is a 224/224 with a 114lsa. I just dont want that real lopey sound and idle problems, maybe a hint of lope but nothing that massages your back while you are stopped at a traffic light. Also check out http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=23#camhelp , on the cam install pages there is an excellent chart with different cam sizes and how aggressive they are and also an explanation of what those numbers mean. Good luck!!

Mine does too-but it doesn't sound stock  Do you agree or disagree...?
Re: EXPLAIN BIG CAM CHARACTERISTICS (Z06ufgrad2002)
I would not RUSH to put that HUGE cam in as i would want it see it battle tested in the real world first as you otherwise will be a bit of a guinea pig.
I would suggest going with something radical yet proven and very streetable like the LGM G5X2 cam with specs of 232/240, .605 lift on a 112, 113 or 114 lsa or even the G5X3 cam which is a bit more radical than the above!
:iagree:

What are all of your cam's specs?
No it does not sound stock. I'm on a 112LSA so there is a nice lope.
However, it idles at 900rpm and runs in traffic just fine no stalling, surging, or other problems.

Re: EXPLAIN BIG CAM CHARACTERISTICS (joe03z06)
what do you guys think the x1 cam from mti will be for a dd, specs r 230 227 .591 .571 112
That's a GREAT CAM choice for your Z06 also that i would give a big  TOO!!! I heard for those somewhat aggressive specs. that cam has very decent street manners and of course will make nice power!!
