Cary ,
are you running your car on track like 30 minutes at high RPM (always between 4500 and 6500 RPM) and saying it is not bringing heat. Or you are saying in normal driving condition it is ok?
I will also install LT headers but want to know when going on track and not for 10 sec but for 20 to 30 mn
Thanks, Pascal
I'm saying in normal driving conditions. I've only been to the track once, 1/4 ET 12.6 @ 113.87mph. However, I remember Lou told me I would not even need the Heatmaster Heat Shield, unless I go to the track constantly. Nevertheless, I had the Heat Shield installed since it gets rather hot in Central Texas.
Furthermore, he said the Heat Shield provides plenty of protection from cabin heat for frequent track participants. Just call Lou's toll free# 1-877-LGMotor. He is the track expert.
Yes, the LG Pro headers are made of stainless steel construction and dissipate heat very efficiently. Some people do have the headers coated, but just for aestetic reasons.
I agree with with Godspeed.
I had my LG Pro's "ceramic jet coated" but only for the aestetic appearence.
I also had the LGM Heatshield installed with the extra insulation up the sides of tunnel.
Abosutely no heat transfer into the interior console area!

Would you mind sharing what the cost of the coating is? :hat
Can't remember the exact cost, but it was somewhere around $350 to have them coated.
Give LGM a call, they will give you a quote. There customer service is second to none!
Is it possible to install the LG heat shield with the headers on or would I have to take them off?
Here is a PIC of the Heat Shield on my C5.
Seems to me it would be an extremely difficult task to install with the Headers in place but LGM did the install on my C5. Call the experts toll free... 1-877-LGMotor and I'm sure Lou would know the answer.
Cary, you're right about the issue of coating longtubes...to an extent. Stainless dissapates heat whereas coating traps it and therefore causes it to be dissipated through the exhaust, right out the back of the car. That is the point that Ed and Pumba are trying to make. The LG headers are cooler because they are stainless and they dissapate the heat off of them. Coating only helps in reducing the heat around the headers themselves and that is why he is getting the coating done so that there is not any heatsoak from the dissapation of the headers...but performance wise, there is no difference.
I agree, it's a shame the excellent quality and fit / finsh that's built into these headers can't be seen execpt from under the car. Not to mention the preformance gains these headers deliver! I guess the numbers speak for themselves. As Lou says, the most powerful headers on the planet, and the numbers speak for themselves! :yesnod:
