Default fuel octane?

i am considering to use octane booster,in Turkey the octanes are 95 and one of the experts suggested me using octane boosters and after using octane booster the octane increases to 100-101 octane!
what is the effect using higher octane fuels to to engine, manifold and the other parts?will the performance change and do you recommend me?

if you use a stock engine you are loosing money.
The C5 engine is not a high compression engine and then do not require better than 93. if you increased the compression then yes you will need a higher indice. the C5R engine needs 100.

Most octane boosters use high aromatic content materials like benzene and toluene. This tends to lead to higher amounts of black carbon deposits in the exhaust system. These materials may also have an impact on seals in the fuel system. I would be leary of using an octane booster. Also, check to see if they are compatibale with your catalytic converter or you may destroy the cat.

:iagree: Higher octane will do nothing for a stock or even mod LS-1 unless high compression. The higher octane makes the charge burn cooler and slower. Person I know put Sunoco Turbo Blue 110 in his BMW V12, screwed up the computer and cost him $3000 to have the engine fixed.

yes it is in most cases. Well I know race gas is so I am assuming octane booster is also unless it harms the car in some way I am not aware of.

Hi and welcome. Stock eng is designed to run on 92-94 oct. If your getting 95 then be happy adding anything to it will just waist you money. If your worried about your gas supply then put in an extra in line gas filter. :seeya

I believe that is the European rating system that will put him more like 90 to 91 in U.S. equivalent.
