On my 98 6spd with 70K, when coming to a stop with the clutch in, the idle will drop to around 400, then the times it doesn't stall, it will go back to 750 or so. The dealer could not find a problem, said all checks are normal. It is worse with the air on. I hate to go to the dealer anyway so if anyone has an idea, I would apreciate it.
I have a 98 6sp with about 65k and I am having the same problem. I have taken it to two different shops and they cannot find anything. Please let me know if the fuel filter is the cause of your problem. Also regarding the aluminum fly wheel, is the stock fly wheel on a 98 C5 aluminum? Thanks.
Does not seem to be fuel filter. dpd---I am not familiar with throttle body cleaner, is it similiar to carb cleaner and do you use it the same way? Can you purchase at auto supply stores?
Got the throttle body cleaner, used it and it seems to have helped the problem--will only know for sure after it gets really hot, but no doubt it is better
dpd, BIG thanks for the information. That has seemed to fix the problem with my car. It is running better that it has since I have owned it. Idle has not once dropped below 700rpm even after extended driving.
