Going from LS1 intake to LS6?
There is a LS6 ported intake manifold up for sale.
What kind of gains can I expect?
Will it be compatable with the stock set up on my LS1?
What does the term ported mean?
Thanks, Tom.

Re: Going from LS1 intake to LS6? (Tombone)
Is your car stock? If you car is stock you might see 10 rwhp. If you have any mods then you would benifit a little more. The term "ported" means that the size of the ports were increased to match the ports in the heads. kaley

I have done this swap on my '99 Camaro SS, gained about 10 HP. IMHO you should also swap the valley cover as well, as the PCV plumbing is much improved, helps reduce oil contamination from thru the PCV.
You will need to grind the block a little, to remove a casting boss that interferes w/ the new manifold.
Also, what year is your engine. The later LS1's came stock w/ the LS6 manifold, earlier ones did not. If your PCV nipple comes out from under the front of the manifold, it's already an LS6 model.
Finally, all the LS1 manifolds are made of a composite material that cannot easily be ported, and the walls are so thin that flow improvements would be marginal. Double check to ensure that the manifold hasn't been "ported" right through the runner, and then patched w/ epoxy.
