Default 3.42 REAR INSTALLED IN MY A4 AND NOW I HAVE NOISE AT FULL LOCK

A while back I had a 3.42 rear installed in my 2000 automatic by a local guy.
The install worked out well no leaks no whine and no parts left over. But if
I make a slow left turn at full lock it makes a slow metallic pinging sound like
someone was tapping a tin can under the hood . I talked to the mechanic who did the work and he said that there was nothing that he could have done to
cause this problem. I have looked under the car while its up on a lift and I
cannot see anything out of order. Does anyone have any ideas ?

You may just need some friction additive for your rear-end oil. Sounds like the positraction clutches are binding a little. The friction additive should help.

Was it added after install? If so, was enough put in? This would be my first step too.

:iagree: absolutely....add about two ounces at a time , make some tight circles (figure eights ) until the noise goes away. I know that sound-scared the hell out me
