Default A&A shortblocks

Tech stuff below but first the situation I was in:

I wanted to give my impression of the motor to anyone considdering an upgrade. I had the stock hollow stem valves in my car and one broke and was eaten by my stock motor. While covered under warranty, I decided to just pay for a real motor and needed one fast. There are some excellent vendors I had dealt with such as Vette Docs and East Coast Supercharging but in the end, I needed this thing fast and I recalled a frind saying that he got the best deal on a forged shortblock in 2 weeks from Andy. 2 weeks? I was blown away after hearing the nightmare that Neptunebill went through with his motor from ARE taking almost a year!!! Six months and they claim there were trucking issues.

I gave Andy a call and he assured me he could get me a motor out in 10 days as he is usually in posession of more than one so the customer doesn't have to wait. He got custom pistons for my application for a stage 2 forged shortblock and traded me for any other parts I had that were damaged but repairable just to get me back in business.

To his word the motor was at my garage in 2 weeks and I did the install after double checking the motor for clearances and workmanship. Everything was perfect as per the tech manual and in it went.

The motor is perfectly balanced and revs silky smooth with no oil consumption at all. You would think that a new motor would have massive blow-by untill the rings seat but it is just not the case. I added nothing after 500 miles. The motor came with a double roller timing chain and I was using my own cam. It started on the first turn.

This is the same motor that vetterdstr uses with his S/Ced set-up that put down 668rwhp. I am planning on a S/C.

I'm still doing HW on the set-up but I haven't decided yet. I need to hear some traction options since true to my screen name I just spin the wheels now and couldn't imagine more power. I have an N2O set-up at the moment too.

I wish Andy would sleep since I would be able to get on with nice house mods if all these vendors would stop making such nice toys.

The Stage II forged motors are actually 348 ci... so he did get something bigger than the 346 ;)

SpinMonster,
There is a good reason Andy doesn't sleep:sleep: :nono:! I saw him cut his hand on a header bracket one day when I was in his shop-I was right behind him and he didn't see me! When he cut his hand some kind of green acid like stuff came out  and there were sparks too! He quickly cleaned up the green stuff and took out a cyclon interocitor and it looked like he laser welded his hand-no scar, no nothin'! ;)
It didn't take a former rocket scientist like me :jester more than a nanosecond to realize that I was in the presence of some kind of alien superior being!
I didn't say anything for fear he would kill me cause I knew-but he was cool  and even let me watch him weld a stainless steel header bracket with eerie green beams from his eyes!
Ever notice he never gets mad or annoyed-that's a trait of superior beings! :yesnod:
So no, he doesn't need sleep-most people think he works 24 hours a day to put out the amout of work he does-but I know the real truth-he has a machine in the back room that can alter space/time relationships, and he can and does work 40, 50, 80, or hundreds of hours per day to meet our demanding schedules!
I don't know how he got here :blueangel: or what his ultimate mission is-all I know is that when my previous highly touted tuner's engine failed after only 700 miles of easy break-in (spun 2nd main and crushed 2nd main web, destoying C5R block), Andy had a forged 427 block together for me in the blink of an eye (actually about 100 man hours in his space/time machine-seemed like a minute and a half to me)! I've put about 4000 D1SC supercharged miles on it (daily driver) and we're getting ready to up the ante with a ATI F1R/bigger injectors and a hypermorphic zygonium attenuator which will unquestionably make me King o' the Road! :auto:
I'm not sure of all the whys and wherefors but Andy sure created one hel-er heck of a stormin' 427!
Roy

Guys, with the ability of breaking the tires loose at 80mph, Chris at East Coast convinced me of one thing......on the street, anything supercharged is enough. My current 348 breaks the tires loose in 3 gears N/A and if I can get 600+ with N2O (now) or 600+++ with an S/C, why the hell would I want more cubes.....so I told Andy348 will do even though I knew it would lock me into a 'larger' displacement class in all Cartek events.
