Anyone convert 97-2000 MAF to 2001+ MAF?
I saw an article on http://www.LS1howto.com about this swap.
http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=25
I know the 2001 MAF is flowed a little different, and that the MAF wires & IAT sensor is built in.
My question is WHY do this?
I think I have problems with my MAF wire harness connector & the IAT wire harness connector, so I WAS going to buy aftermarket harness connectors, but then saw this article..
Anyone do this or can tell me why to do it?
Thanks, Ellis

I switched to the Pace Performance Recalibrated MAF and adapter cable on my '98. Why? Because I bracket race and I got tired of the IAT sensor picking up heat from the radiator and engine compartment even after I relocated it up front. I monitor the incoming air temp AND the IAT and the temps are within a degree or two now. They used to differ by 10 degrees at best from residual heat and 5 degrees even when driving on the freeway with constant airflow.
BTW this new MAF is working very well for me. I monitor the car with EFILive whenever I drive the car and have seen no problems. I am also using LS1edit to tune the car myself based on my goals.

Thanks for the reply..
Just ordered it! Talked to my LS-1 Edit guy & Patrick at Vararam, and it seems this is definitely the way to go!

 I strongly suggest that you start using a scanner (I use AutoTap end EFILive) to make sure everything is  There is always the possibility that you may have to make tweeks in the setup to get the best performance and having good data is critical

that's why. There won't be as much gain unless the upgrade is a part of a "system"; such as with a LS6 (or aftermarket) intake .

It's a good article, but this really seems like a hassle for what will likely amount to zero hp difference.
