I'm about to replace my Z51 bar with a Z06 bar. The stock endlinks are polymer while the new ones are metal. Is there any special prep needed when installing the new endlinks?
I'm not sure why you don't have steel links in front since all 2000 and 2001 Z51's came with them. But aluminum end links will fit without any prep. Just make sure you torque them to spec. Two ways to do this. Get a crow’s foot, off-set socket to put on the torque wrench while you hold the center star bolt or hold the nut while reverse torquing the center star nut. Torque setting is 53 lb ft. Have fun. – C.

Hmmm...last time under there, I'd thought it was the black polymer ones. I'll take some pics when the days comes.
So the torque on the endlink nut is 53 lb. ft.? Do you put any lithium grease on the endlink?
I have done the same -- stock to Z51 to Z06 on the front (stock to Z51/Z06 on the rear). I thought the front endlinks were always metal, but the rear were polymer (I switched mine to metal in the back as well). This is on a 2000. As mentioned by someone else, torque is important.
