Need info on Cartek and LGM big h/c packages
I am attempting to help a customer shop a heads/cam package for his 2001 ZO6 (schpodie). He has made many attempts himself to find out as much as he can about the top h/c packages talked about on this forum. At this point, he is ready to spend his $$ but is still undecided. He has enlisted me to help finalize the decision. He is after the agressive LS6 h/c packages that are putting up the big #'s at the track (trap speeds) and power under the curve. Seems we've narrowed down between the Cartek LS6 2-x Rev 2 and LGM's G5X3 radical package. I've attempted to contact both vendors via email to get the basic specs on the cam and heads but imagine they've been very busy with the shootout and all. So, could anyone provide me the following data on either package:
1. Cam profile- I only need the basic stats. duration @ .050, lift and lsa
2. Heads- final flow #'s, valve sizes, valve spring specs, combustion chamber volume
I need this info to determine expected driveability, emissions challenges and possible need for valve reliefs to be cut in pistons. I am very familiar with the rather loose Oregon emissions standard and can get a general idea if a package will pass or not by looking at the cam profile. Any info would help us out in making the final decision. Thanks in advance.

Hey, you never did send the ls1 edit file info from the cartek file I sent you. Have you tried tuning any cars with it??
I've got the cam card around here somewhere with the numbers and had the heads flowed, cc'd, springs checked, valve stems zero decked, etc--will need to find the data sheet. No flycutting necessary w/the cam.

hey, paul- I was never able to (easily) open the file in user friendly manner. I had to decipher it in a round-about way to learn there was no magic in it whatsoever, just standard tuning most of us use already.
How is your car running? Let me know if you find that cam card.

Well, one is a bit faster than the other but until the debate is settled I can't say which one :lolg:

rsj383, I am not sure about LGM, but I was at the S.C. Shootout and I can tell you that ALL of the Cartek X packages are "very reasonably priced." We heard that all day long from their public address anouncer.

Robert, here's a bump (TTT) for you...me?
I struggle with this decision because both packages seem SOooooo close. At the end of the day I am interested in reliability, no muss no fuss and as much streetability as can be found in a (darn near) 500rwhp h/c car. If I were in TX or the NE it would probably be and easier decision but since I am so far away from these tuners I have to rely greatly on the information available and what their service will be like in getting the package installed and tuned correctly.
Thanks all!

I think my cam is a .580 .580 224/228 113lsa and is very streetable. This is not a shot to LGM but that video of JRods car was down right nasty. I cant imagine anyone driving around with high compression, race gas, welded heads and just headers and regardless of what idle speed it was it it sounded very rough. With that said I wouldnt mind a package even more aggressive then that cause I'm crazy.

Yes, I agree the cam in Jrod's car had a tremendous chop to it, indicating a very tight LSA. Some of us are guessing <110lsa. This is what I need to know so that I can figure if the package will pass Oregon OBDII emissions or not.

LG never releases their cam specs, and only the "internet guesses" I've seen place it somewhere in the 240/244 ballpark with around .600/.610 lift.
This is just what I've read and by no means anything knowledgeable about the exact specs. The X3 is more radical than the X2, which is known to be a 232/240 .590/.609 so that should be enough to tell you what you need to know right there...if a sniffer test is involved at all, no way is it gonna pass.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you. We have 15 days left before we leave for Sebring with the new World Challenge C5, and we are scrambling.
Give me a call tomorrow ( and tell them who you are) and they will get me to the phone. I will try to answer all you questions tomorrow.
Thanks.
